Eyebrow Threading: Painful, Yet Intriguing

For reasons that are unclear, my local mall is riddled with booths offering eyebrow threading. My friend Melanie and I noted this and went back today to try it out (the Punjabi woman in our office talks about it nonstop). It's quite amazing how efficient these practitioners are, working with rolls of ordinary sewing thread, thwacking the errant hairs on your brows. Two minutes and two watery eyes later, voila, you're featuring something like definition.

Did you get yours done? Kandice swears by it and says it doesn't hurt at all.

I did do, and Kandice lies, it does hurt. But ripping hunks is hair out by the roots is bound to do that.

Marya has always had her eyebrows threaded. And she gets her legs sugared, which is supposed to be better for the skin than waxing.h

Cool! I've never heard of that, but I see a homemade recipe here.

Heroes note: I just read that it's possible that the new power that Peter has swaps out the old power with the new one absorbed, so by the time he blew a hole in the side of the plane he no longer had his flying ability. We'll see tonight, but that would make his fear more logical.

Yeah, that kind of makes sense, but I'm frankly lost on the permutations of his powers. He got them sucked by his dad via the Judas hug, but I can't remember how he got them back, hence how the terms on their use change.

He injected himself with the last existing vial of the formula that Suresh synthesized with the catalyst stolen from Hiro. The characters on the show (well, Parkman, Daphne, and Ando) came up with a theory that your powers are linked to your innermost desires. Daphne, as a woman using crutches, most wanted to move quickly and freely. Parkman, as a cop, always wanted to know what made the other guy tick. Hiro, as someone unhappy with his lot in life, wanted to be able to shift time and or place. So, they reasoned, if Ando, really, really wanted to go back in time to save Hiro, that's the power he would get when injected with the formula. It appears, however, all Ando really wants to be is a great sidekick, because his power is pretty useless when he's not with someone else with powers. Based on this reasoning, I just assumed Peter's power would have been the same as the one he had before it was taken away because he hasn't changed. Plus, the first power that expressed itself was flying (or, you could argue his dreams of the future were first, but...whatever), both before and after the serum, so it just seemed like he got his old powers back. There's no reason they can't tweak it though, because no one has explained how each person ended up with his or her specific power, with or without help, there's nothing to stop them from giving Peter a slightly different power.

Ah. That kind of makes sense and gives them a loop hole.

I'm glad you reminded me that it was on tonight, though. I totally forgot.
