Huckabee (???) and Obama Take It

In Iowa. This is interesting.

Intriguing first salvo. I'm curious to see how the next few primaries play out. NH is always a wild card, so that won't tell us too much, but there are a bunch of others not too far behind.

Yeah, our resident Eugene McCarthy supporter ("Clean for Gene!") has declared that the nonestablishment candidates will get sidetracked soon enough. Probably so.

What's intriguing is that apparently Obama drew a large portion of the young vote and also that he did so well in Iowa, of all places (95% white, rural) which bodes well (in my view, since I support him).

Toby, I can't remember if I ever asked you: who's your preferred candidate?

I'm for Obama also.

I'm hearing and reading interesting scuttlebutt on reaction to all this. My coworker just came in to report that his conservative brother just became a Obama donor.

Other intriguing factoid: the total voter turnout for the Democratic caucuses was doubt that for the Republican.

This all seems really significant. Though we'll see how all this plays out and how Clinton makes up ground.
